Aberystwyth Town 0 - Haverfordwest County 3
Second half goals by Ricky Watts, Ben Ahmun and an own goal saw Haverfordwest County return to winning ways with an excellent performance against Aberystwyth Town at Park Avenue on Friday evening.
The Bluebirds had narrowly lost their last three games by a 1-0 margin, so manager Tony Pennock was delighted his side picked up three precious points with a thoroughly deserved three-goal victory over the Seasiders under lights.
This positive result sees Haverfordwest County move up to third in the table on same points as second placed Cardiff Met (who play tomorrow) and top of the table Penybont who defeated champions TNS 2-1 tonight who go six points clear.
The Bluebirds had the first sight at goal as Owain Jones’ cross is met by Lee Jenkins header which is comfortably gathered by Dave Jones.
Minutes later defender Kyle McCarthy made good ground before he unleashed a low right footed drive which is stopped by Jones.
Aber put the visitors under pressure as a set-piece placed in Jonathan Evans who struck a first time volley from an acute angle is saved by Zac Jones.
The Seasiders were forced to make an early substitution as Jonathan Evans was replaced by Rico Paterson.
The visitors were unlucky not to break the deadlock as Jacob Owen’s corner is met by a firm header by Owain Jones’ header which rattled the crossbar.
Ricky Watts struck a first time effort wide as the midfielder got on the end of a long throw-in in the box.
Just before the break Bluebirds’ skipper Corey Shephard’s deflected shot from just outside the box was gathered by Dave Jones.
Seven minutes after the break the visitors opened the scoring as an excellent one two by Kyle Kenniford which fell perfectly for veteran midfielder Ricky Watts, who took a touch before he poked it into the net.
The visitors doubled the lead in the 58
th minute, as an accurate cross from the left is met by an instinctive volley by striker Ben Ahmun from inside the box.
On the 70 minute mark the visitors grabbed their third, as a mis judged defensive clearance by skipper Louis Bradford found the back of his own net to complete the scoring.
